7 Unconventional Ways To Motivate Yourself

The 7 Unconventional Ways Of Thinking

1. “Welcome the pain”

Yep! Welcome the pain. Accept it willingly.

There’s a saying, “Pain is weakness leaving the body”, which means to say, no matter how tough or how much pain you’re feeling, you’re going to emerge stronger after that. So don’t be afraid when things get tough. Push yourself to accept what is coming instead and know that you’re going to grow from it.

2. “Look forward to feeling good”

This is my main, personal method in motivating myself. I believe that when you work hard, the feeling you get after that is the reward. The sense of satisfaction and accomplishment is the backbone of it all.

The fitness mantra, “Do you want to be sore, or sorry later?” works the same way.

So only aim for the feeling. Ask yourself how you want to feel later only. Forget about how you’d feel in between.

3. “Stop moving forward, take a step back instead”

Stop progressing altogether for a second. Just stop.

Take a step back instead.

It may seem paradoxical, but you know what it can do for you? You’ll be able to gain more clarity.

Go back for a second, re-evaluate your goals and remember your why. This effectively gives you the motivation to move forward.

And you’ll make better progress.

4. “Quit”

Or better yet, quit. Give up altogether on what you’re doing.

This requires some reflection and evaluation though. Sometimes quitting is the best thing you can do. You just have to realize that what you’re doing isn’t helping you anymore.

And after you quit, you’re free to do whatever you want as you’re no longer trapped by whatever it is which held you down.

5. ”Have a really good break”

This kind of goes hand in hand with point (2): Look forward to feeling good.

I find that a lot of people have lousy breaks. They don’t do themselves the favour they deserve. E.g. Instead of recognizing that a break time is a time to recharge, they end up being completely idle by doing mindless things like surfing Facebook, Twitter or watching random YouTube videos they aren’t even interested in watching in the first place. That is dead time. It does not help you at all and before you know it, you’re back to work.

6. “Failure is your best friend”

Or, failure is your ally.

Embrace failure, for it will give you the best and most meaningful lessons you actually need to move forward. That being said, failure is not the end.

When you don’t get the results you want, it doesn’t mean it’s over. Instead, you’re given the opportunity to learn and grow the fastest way possible.

7. ”Have fun”

Whatever it is in life, just have fun. Make that your sole aim.

Don’t take life so seriously. Laugh at your mistakes. Never sweat the small stuff. Just have fun, and be thankful for what you have, and that everything is going to be okay anyway.

11 Creative Ways To Get More Twitter Followers

It’s natural, as a user of Twitter, to want to get more Twitter followers. There are several extremely effective methods that you can you use to attract more Twitter followers to follow you, which you can start implementing today.

In this revealing and informative article we will look at 10 of the best and most effective techniques to get more Twitter followers. Apply just a few of them and you will rapidly double, or even triple, your devoted following of Twitter fans!

How To Get More Twitter Followers

STRATEGY #1 – USE A GREAT TWITTER PROFILE PHOTO!
When people scan through the list of potential Tweeters to follow one of the first things they will see is your profile photo. As such, you want to make sure that your photo is unique, interesting and eye-catching.

With a great photo your likelihood of attracting new twitter followers is significantly increased. It is also a good idea to change your photo regularly as this keeps things fresh and exciting.

STRATEGY #2 – HAVE AN INTERESTING BIOGRAPHY!
Your biography is, by necessity, short and so you only get a few lines to make an impact. Therefore, you want to write something that inspires people to follow you. Whether by signalling the topics and themes your Tweets are generally going to be about or by engendering a little curiosity and mystique, this brief bio needs to be impactful, noteworthy and able to inspire people to follow you.

STRATEGY #3 – TWEET ON A REGULAR BASIS!
Unless you are already extremely famous, it is almost impossible to build a sizable following without Tweeting on a regular basis. You should ideally aim to send a Tweet out at least once a day, if not twice or even more. Being visible to your followers gives your Tweets more chance of being Re-Tweeted and shared which will further increase your number of followers.

You can also use BufferApp to pre-load tweets and schedule them in if you are going on a holiday or have a jam-packed week of exams ahead of you. This is a must if you strive to keep your tweets consistent.

STRATEGY #4 – TWEET INTERESTING, NEWSWORTHY INFORMATION!
If you Tweet thought-provoking ideas and information then you exponentially increase your chance of being Re-Tweeted. Since Re-Tweeting is, undoubtedly, one of the easiest ways to gain more visibility among potential followers you need to make this a key part of your strategy.

STRATEGY #5 – CHOOSE YOUR HASHTAGS WISELY!
If you want to get your Tweets in front of other people with related interests then putting a bit of thought into your Hashtags can pay off handsomely! Think of something relevant that is likely to be shared or might even trend and you can be onto a real winner.

STRATEGY #6 – DON’T BE OVERLY PROMOTIONAL!
Perhaps the quickest way to lose a whole bunch of previously loyal followers is by promoting too heavily. Twitter is not designed to be overly commercial in terms of content and affiliate links so you should keep any form of advertising to an absolute minimum.

STRATEGY #7 – REQUEST A RE-TWEET!
This tactic won’t always work but, when it does, it can be extremely effective. The key idea is to get either a celebrity or a key Tweeter in your niche to Re-Tweet your message. If you are successful with this then you can get your message seen by potentially hundreds of thousands or even millions of people. That sort of visibility can increase your total of followers incredibly quickly!

Also if you know that your tweet is quality content, it doesn’t hurt to ask your community once in a while if they can RT your link or tweet. This has actually proven to increase your chances of a Re-Tweet by 2X. Just don’t over do it on this request.

STRATEGY #8 – FOLLOW SIMILAR TWEETERS!
Another effective strategy that always works is to follow people with similar interests. When you follow someone who is a good match in terms of hobbies, interests and opinions, there is a high likelihood they will follow you back. If you do this enough times you can build up a very large Twitter following using only this one strategy.

You could use TweetAdder which is great for finding people to follow who have followed your role models or competition.

STRATEGY #9 – ADD YOUR PROFILE TO TWITTER DIRECTORIES!
Strange as it may sound, but, some people literally trawl through the main Twitter Directories to find people to follow. It doesn’t take long to add your profile to the main Twitter Directories, such as JustTweetIt.com and WeFollow.com, and it can boost your following significantly over time.

STRATEGY #10 – TWEET NEAT PICTURES TO YOUR FOLLOWERS!
For some unknown reasons, Tweeting pictures works spectacularly well on Twitter. If your pictures are at all interesting or comment worthy then you will effortlessly generate a lot of Re-Tweets. This increases your visibility and inevitably means you will gain more followers. As such, you should make this a regular part of your Twitter strategy.

STRATEGY #11 – STAY ENGAGED
You have to stay engaged with your followers. If I go to your Twitter page and you are just writing about yourself and you are not “@replying” to your  followers then chances are I am not going to be interested in connecting with you. I would consider you as the type of guy who goes to a party and only talks about himself and is not willing to interact with anyone else or even ask how they are doing. People want to see that there is a real human being on the other side of the keyboard that they can get an honest answer or interaction out of.

You want proof on how the @reply works. check this link out and also follow @garyvee, Gary Vaynerchuk has millions of followers and interacts with nearly anyone who reaches out too him.

Summing Up

There are a number of ways to quickly and easily increase the number of your Twitter followers. To maximize your results you should use consider using these strategies in combination. Pick a few of the 10 strategies outlined above, start applying them today and you will soon see amazing results. Good luck with your Tweeting!

SUCCESS

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success.

5 Ways to Stay Grounded in A Hectic World

It has never been so hard to stay grounded, with so many distractions, be materialistic, personal issues and negative talk, it is a struggle not to get caught up in day-to-day trivialities that force us to lose focus on our own lives and journey.

We have put together 5 tips to help you stay grounded in todays world and though some may seem easy and practical, ask yourself If they are the things that you are applying enough in your life.

1. GIVE BACK TO THE WORLD
We have brainstormed a list of ways that everyone can give back, so there is no excuse not to.

Donate regularly to your local Salvation Army /Red Cross store, be it clothes, linen, shoes, a lamp, a TV or refrigerator, you never know what someone less fortunate than you may need to make their life that little bit easier and you could contribute to this by donating.

Give Blood – Did you know that less than 500 ml’s of blood can save up to 3 lives and out of the 37 percent of the U.S. population who are eligible to donate blood – less than 10 percent do annually?

People die of blood loss every second and your brave donation could help to save some lives.

Sponsor a Child – There are many ways and much information out there for people who are interested in sponsoring a child so if this is something you are interested in, Google is all you need. From as little as $1 a day, you can help to provide basic life saving necessities that many of us take for granted, such as, education, safe water, nutritious food and healthcare.

Volunteer at a local soup kitchen – In January 2012, 633,782 people were homeless in the United States. 105,237 in Australia and this list goes on from around the World. Homeless people are the same as you and I, they too have a story however their story leads to how they came to being homeless. Soup Kitchen’s provide relief for our homeless people and gives them a chance of survival, meeting people and gives them faith in others, faith that they are important enough to want to be helped.

Volunteer your time in a different country – I have an older Sister who recently volunteered her time in India with a group of like-minded people. They would travel to an Orphanage each day and help children with their English. My Sister said it was one of the best experiences of her life and was extremely rewarding. There is information on the Internet and many travel agents will help to arrange all of the details with you. This is a good way to make a change in peoples lives and give back.

Write to a pen pal – I’m sure a lot of us remember having a pen pal when we were younger at school perhaps? Well this is kind of the same except the part of being at school. There are many websites dedicated to helping people connect with a pen pal from anywhere in the world. This is a way of being able to connect with someone in the world and share experiences from your world and see how different they are to that of you pen pal. This is giving back as it is providing a hobby for somebody and you are building a friendship and sharing experiences. There is something to learn from everybody (I believe).

2. MAKE TIME FOR A HOBBY
This sounds pretty simple but most adults I meet don’t have a hobby, something they enjoy to do for themselves, just because. I think this is very important for everyone and can be something as simple as reading to gardening to collecting cars or doing yoga. The key thing here is to make time for your hobby. If you have a very busy schedule it is important to include time every few days for yourself and to spend on your hobby. This keeps your head sane in learning how to have a balance and forcing yourself to do something enjoyable.

3. DO SOMETHING BY YOURSELF
Most of us are surrounded by people all the time. At work, at home, at the gym, a Pilates class, and it isn’t often thought about consciously doing something by ourselves. We need to learn how to say no more often. Even if it is once a week or fortnight, go out to lunch alone, or have a coffee and cake, watch a movie, see a play or go for relaxing walk. I think this is an important one as we often forget what it feels like to be with ourselves with no one around. Having this time alone makes you more aware of your surroundings, of how you are feeling in the moment, gives you time to reflect on you and for some of us, will get you out of a comfort zone which is a good thing.

4. CALL YOUR FAMILY – REGULARLY
This is another one that sounds quit simple but when was the last time you spoke to your Mum or Dad, Sisters and Brothers? Family is important, It is where we came from and how we were shaped in to this world from a young age. I know a few people who don’t get along with their parents or siblings but the point of staying in touch with them is not to agree on everything but to remember where you came from and to know what is going on in their lives. Regret is one thing we all don’t want and staying in touch with your Parents will help your conscious in the long run.

5. VISUALISATION
This might sound a bit odd but this is something I have started doing recently that really helps me when I get home from a hard day at work and am ready to complain about my life. I have always been moved by sad pictures of starving children in Africa, beggars in India, families with very little but a big smile on their faces in Indonesia and I started to save these images and have them rotating on my wallpaper on my laptop. I save these along with positive, affirming pictures and it helps to put life into perspective for me. I have a friend who has a visualisation board hanging on her living room wall and it includes pictures such as the ones I have explained as well as goals and things she is working towards. We all know the saying “out of sight, out of mind” and we all know that there is poverty and people out there much less fortunate than we are however we seldom think of them as they are mostly out of sight.  This small activity that we can all do will remind us to be thankful of our lives and for people we care about and not to take things for granted.

With the above in mind, there will be days when you don’t feel so grounded or thankful but I believe in a balance in all things. You must know sadness to recognise love, anger to rejoice in happiness, experience death to appreciate life and so on. Staying surrounded with daily reminders to help stay grounded and focused is the same. We must know what it is to be selfish in order to be selfless.

6 Rules

1. If you like something because you think other people are going to like it, it’s a sure bet no one will.

2. Most doors in the World are closed. If you find one that you want to get into, you damn well better have an interesting knock.

3. Everything that you think is important, isn’t. Everything that you think is unimportant, is.

4. Don’t shit where you eat

5. Lean into it. The outcome doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re there for it, whatever “it” is, good or bad.

6. Never sleep with someone who has more problems than you.

What a girl reallywant on Valentine’sDay

(OPINION) – Another ‘Lovers
Day’ is has come and along
with it comes the attending
expectations, breakups and
sudden love realisations. Perhaps it’s just me, but the
expectations seem to have
risen this year. Inflation? (Of
course, we must find a way to
tie everything to the removal
of the fuel subsidy). Anyway. There seems to be this
preconceived notion about
what women want or expect
from their men this season.
Well, I’m here to address
that. For the purposes of this article, I use the term
‘we’ loosely to refer to the
‘average girl’ but I’d like to
state that seeing as I don’t
like to wear earrings, there is
a strong possibility that my views and opinions may not
represent those of general
womenfolk. But you’re here so you might
as well continue reading,
yes? No? Ah well. Nigerian Twitter was in an
uproar the other day
because a guy supposedly
got an iPad, a MacBook Pro,
a pair of Christian Louboutin
shoes and the latest Blackberry Porsche as pre-
valentine gifts for his love
interest. (Pre-valentine?
Really? What does that even
mean?) A rough estimate of
the cost of all this is about half a million naira or so. I
wonder what the Valentine
gifts itself would be like. A
front row seat in heaven? Most Nigerian men believe
that the average Nigerian
woman just wants expensive
presents for Valentine’s.
While this may not be
entirely erroneous, I beg to differ a little. First of all, the gifts do not
have to be expensive. If you
can afford to spoil us silly by
paying for deep tissue
massages at a French spa
and treating us to dinner at the palazzo, please by all
means do so. But if you
cannot afford it, we do not
expect you to sell your
kidneys to do so. It makes no
sense to spend all your life savings on Valentine’s and
then end up drinking garri the
rest of the year. No. It is
never that serious. If you’re really sure it’s love
you’re celebrating (not lust
and its other variants), then I
believe you’re with a partner
who knows and understands
your financial position. The only thing we’d find irksome
is if you can conveniently
afford to do something really
nice but then you decide to
cheapen out and buy her Mr.
Biggs cake. Such behaviour is not
acceptable. The problem isn’t
about the cost of the cake
really but the gesture itself.
It just looks like you don’t
care enough, or are too cheap to treat her specially. And that whole ‘I don’t
believe in Valentine’s day’
line? The absolute worst! Is it
possible that you really don’t
believe in it? Yes sir, it is.
But Oga, if your madam believes in it then you better
go ahead and do something
special for her. Love is about
compromise and doing
‘foolish things’. So if it would
make her happy for you to treat her to dinner and buy
her something nice, then you
better go right ahead and do
so. Wise men know that her
happiness = your happiness. Do we like gifts? Yes. But
even more than gifts, we like
attention. We like to know
that you’re thinking about us;
that you actually put some
thought into what happens that day. If I had to pick
between having you to
myself that day and, not
spending time with you but
receiving a Blackberry
Porsche, Macbook Pro, iPad and pair of Louboutin’s, I’d
pick the former in a
heartbeat. And it is my
humble submission that any
girl/woman/lady/female that
picks the latter is more into your money than you. My two cents? At the end of
the day, people are different.
So know your woman. Know
what gets to her and do all
WITHIN YOUR CAPACITY to
give her that. If she’s worth your time, she’ll recognise
that and give you an A+ for
trying.
